David Gedge formed his first band at the age of 14. They were called 'Sen' and included Dave Fielding who was later a member of the seminal Manchester band The Chameleons.
Sen, Mitosis, Meterzone, The Lost Pandas and - of course - Cinerama.
Below are listed the main labels that have released David's materials over the last 20 years in the UK.
In addition to the record labels listed above, both Cinerama and The Wedding Present have released materials on Manifesto Records in the USA and there have been numerous bits-and-pieces released on small independent record labels such as the recent Cinerama single "It's not you, it's me" which was released on the USA label 'Go Metric!'
The Wedding Present played their first ever gig on 1st March 1985, in Allerton Bywater, near Leeds. Exactly 20 years to the day, they will play their 20th Anniversary Concert at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham on 1st March 2005.
Bette Davis was asked by a reporter her advice to young actresses who wanted to get to Hollywood. Her reply was "Take Fountain" - a reference to Fountain Avenue - apparently the quickest route to Hollywood.
David's often uses his middle name of Lewis. This is actually his mother's maiden name.
