Marketing in the real world

We don't do 'marketing' in the traditional sense because we believe that it is inappropriate for the majority of public sector organisations and small to medium sized companies.

Many people working in marketing today have been educated at expensive universities and colleges on how to do theoretical marketing. Nearly all of this theory is based on case studies of big businesses with multi-million pound budgets.

If you look at any marketing textbook you'll see hundreds of pages devoted to Unilever, Virgin, Coca Cola, Microsoft and so on.

But you will see nothing about 'John Smith and Sons' which has 12 employees and a limited marketing budget. You will also see nothing about marketing for local authorities, schools, charities or public sector organisations.

So, when you call in an expensive marketing agency to help you, the spotty 21 year old that turns up at your door will have a head full of ideas based on what they have learnt about the 'Boston Box' and other academic theories dreamt up by American professors who have never actually worked in the real world.

This is where we are different. The News Hound Ltd are experts in effective marketing for the public sector, not-for-profit organisations and smaller companies on limited budgets.

Our work is based on years of experience of doing marketing in the real world - not from textbooks and complicated theories created by academics sitting in their ivory towers.
